The Stars went on the road to Ann Arbor Greenhills and came away with a 45-21 win.
Greenhills took an early 5-0 lead. Claire McClorey scored the Stars only basket in the first quarter. Greenhills was on top 7-2 after the first eight minutes.
Defensively, the Stars took control of the game in the second quarter and did not allow a point to be scored by Greenhills. Lauren Luomala hit a much needed 3 point shot and Hailey Baumann finished under the basket to tie the game at 7 points each. Maeve Burke, Rachel Luomala, and Claire McClorey combined for the next 8 points. Stars led 15-7 heading into halftime.
Greenhills came out with energy to start the second half and scored the first 6 points to make it a 2 point game, 15-13. Offensively, the Stars started to make a run. Darbi Klatt made a free throw and Rachel Luomala scored the next 8 points and the Stars led 24-15. Hailey Baumann and Lauren Arena finished out the third quarter with 2 points each. SCA led 28-15 after 3 quarters.
In the final quarter of play, SCA outscored Greenhills 17-4. Eight girls scored for SCA in that quarter to solidify the win. A great team win for the Stars.
Rachel Luomala led the team with 15 points. Claire McClorey scored 7 points and Hailey Baumann contributed 6 points.
The Stars travel to Riverview Gabriel Richard on Tuesday.
