SCA competed against 19 teams Saturday at Whitmore Lake Invitational scoring 3rd place overall. The girls ran, jumped and threw some excellent performances despite the 9.5 hours of cold rain. Scoring for the Stars were Freshman Veronica Klawender who finished 2nd overall in the 400m dash with a 1:12.03 and 8th overall in the 100m hurdles with 19.85. Senior Anna Schubert ran second overall in the 800 in 2:57.72 in a driving rain. Junior Shireen Bolis was 5th in the 3200 with 14:31.48. Sophomore Lily Kueber had a very busy day scoring 5th in the 100m hurdles, and 3rd in the long jump with a 13-4.5. Our 300 Hurdles were strong with Katie Higgins placing 4th with 59.92 and Emily Farkas placing 5th with 1:00.61 after a 30 minute technical delay in the rain. The 4X200 team scored 5th Makayla Darby, Sophie Smith, Sarah Romain, and Emily Farkas passing beautifully. The 4X400 was second with 5:15.80 with Veronica Klawender, Emily Farkas, Katie Higgins, and closing the meet was Anna Schubert. Scoring for the Stars in throwing was Sara Haupt in Shot put, 6th with 26-6 having to dig the shot out of the mud when landing. Rotating in inches of water for Discus, Sara was 2nd with a 72-5, and Bri Smerage was 4th with her PR of 60-0. Also scoring in Long Jump was Sarah Romain with 5th place with a 12-9. Despite the weather, the girls had fun with a great attitude, thanking God for the beautiful day! We are all very proud of these strong young ladies.
