After a week off, the Stars went on the road and fell short to Cabrini by the score of 46-28.
The first four minutes of the game was a back and forth battle. A made free throw by Gabby Green and a basket by Maryann Alexander led SCA to an early 3-0 lead. Cabrini came back and made 2 free throws to close the gap to 3-2. Grace Gulowski converted on a 2 point basket to increase the Stars lead to 5-2. Cabrini’s aggressive style forced SCA into 10 turnovers in the first quarter and Cabrini finished the quarter on a 15-2 run.
The Stars battled back in the second quarter. Gabby Green hit a 3 point shot to close the gap, 17-10. Once again, Cabrini went on 7-1 run to increase their lead to double digits. Down 21-11, but the Stars were not giving up. Maryann Alexander powered up 4 more points before halftime and the Stars went into halftime down 24-15.
The third quarter was the most impressive for the Stars.
Although Cabrini went on a 6-4 run and took a 30-19 lead, the Stars continued to show their best effort. Scoring the next 6 consecutive points, SCA found themselves within 5 points to end the third quarter.
Offensively, Cabrini took over in the fourth quarter. They knocked down 4, three point shots which led to them outscore the Stars, 16-3 in the fourth quarter.
Maryann Alexander had a dominate game, scoring 13 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Gabby Green added 6 points.
