The Stars went on the road for their third consecutive game and lost to Bishop Foley by the score of 40-27.
SCA had a tough night on both sides of the court. Maryann Alexander scored the first basket of the game to take the Stars only lead of the game at 2-0. SCA went 0/8 from the field for the remainder of the first quarter. Fortunately, the stars kept their intensity on defense and held Bishop Foley to only 4 points. Score was 4-2 after the first quarter.
Bishop Foley was able to generate more offense in the second quarter, while the Stars continued to struggle. Foley went on a 6-2 run, to take a 10-4 lead. Sofia Iaquinto powered in a basket to make it 10-6. Foley made another 5-2 run and took a 15-8 lead into halftime.
During the third quarter, the Stars started to show some life. A couple quick baskets by Maryann Alexander and Lizzy Turek, closed the gap to 15-12. Foley made a couple of free throws, but then the Stars got baskets by Sofia Iaquinto , Maryann Alexander and a big 3 point shot by Grace Gulowkski to tie the game at 19 a piece. Foley then finished the third quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 24-19 lead into the final 8 minutes of play.
The fourth quarter was all Bishop Foley. Offensively, Foley went 5/7 from the field, 2/2 from 3 point range and 4/9 from the free throw line. SCA was outscored 16-8 in the fourth quarter.
Maryann Alexander led the Stars with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Lizzy Turek added 6 points and Sofia Iaquinto scored 4 points.
