SCA improved their record to 7-8 on the season by deafeating Parkway Christian, 44-43.
It was a back and forth game with 7 lead changes and 6 times the game was tied. Offensively, the Stars came out aggressive and took and early 5-0 lead. Sofia Iaquinto made 2 free throws and Grace Gulowski hit a 3 point shot. Parkway Christian came right back and scored the next 6 consecutive points to take their first lead, 6-5. Both teams traded baskets for the reminader of the first quarter and Parkway Christian had an 11-10 advantage at end of the first quarter.
The second quarter is when Parkway Christian took their largest lead of the game. They went on a 7-2 run to start the second quarter, which resulted in a 18-12 lead.Sofia Iaquinto, Maryann Alexander and Olivia Skown combined for the next 6 points to tie the game. Parkway Christian made a 3 point shot and Lizzy Turek made a free throw to end second quarter. Stars trailed 21-19 at halftime.
Parkway Chrisitan scored the first basket of the third quarter, but then the Stars rallied. SCA went on a 8-0 run to take a 27-23 lead. Parkway Christian scored the next 4 points to once again, tie the score. A back and forth battle was played and the Stars were down 31-30 heading into the final quarter.
SCA came out ready to control the fourth quarter. Maryann Alexander and Lauren Arena combined for the next 6 points, and the Stars regained a 5 point lead, 36-31. SCA maintained that 5 point lead, until the last minute of play. With SCA in the lead, 43-37, Parkway Christian connected on a two, 3 point shots but the Stars were able to hang on to a 44-43 win.
The Stars were led by Maryann Alexander with 9 points. Sofia Alexander added 9 points and Gabby Green scored 7.
